An introduction to Islamic Economics Department

The Islamic Economics Department at the Islamic Institute for Culture and Thought (www.iict.ac.ir) was founded in 1994 for pursuing the following goals:

1-Discovering and interpretation of Islamic Economic system in fields like intuition, philosophic principles of Islamic Economics based on values, goals and behavioral patterns, groups, governments and the logic behind the dominant structure.

2-Theoretical designing of organizations and institutes of Islamic Economic system based on appropriateness of time and place

3-Providing the required background for realization of Islamic Economic system.

4- Launching research on different aspects of juridical problems and new requirements of the field of Economics.

5- Removing misconceptions and misgivings and answering them within the frame of Islamic Economy respectively.

6- Comparative study and criticizing other schools and Islamic systems.

7- Scientific and practical observations and pathological views on Economy of Islamic Republic of Iran and fulfilling its needs.

VIII. Characteristics of department’s researchers (Members of the scientific board, researchers & part time researchers)

1-      All of them have graduated from a Ph.D program in Islamic studies (Ijtihad)

2-      All of them are graduated from the most reputed national universities (Master of Ph.D)

3-      Members of the scientific board are given special research fields and therefore have valuable works respectively.

4-      Most of the books of IICT members of the scientific board are among reference books and are used by economy researchers.

5-      Most of the books of department are among learning and instruction oriented books.

6-      Most of the presented research problems are analyzed based on a comparative look.

7-      Some members of the department are selected and regarded as best researchers numerous times and many of them won prizes as a result of their books, during scientific festivals and conferences.

8-      The department has what it takes (like professional scientific board and researchers)  to become a center of excellence  in the field of Islamic Economics nationally. So in 2010 the required preparatory steps and measures have been taken.

9-      For the first time the members of the scientific board and researchers have this ability and potential to establish the major of Islamic Economics at postgraduate level (MA & Ph.D) and have already submitted their proposal to Irans Ministry of science, research and technology.

Thus this proposal has been already approved in Qom seminary for appliance.

15-Publishing the professional quarterly periodical of Islamic economics:

 Another important activity of the department is publishing this scientific/research-based quarterly periodical. This quarterly is actually the first professional instance in this field and has reached to the issue number 34. The quarterly contains the following characteristics:

 

1-     In each issue averagely 7 compiled papers are published on various fields of Islamic economics.

The whole number of papers has reached 258.

 

2-     In each issue 1-2 translated articles are published. The total number of translated articles reached 40

 

The other sections of this quarterly is devoted to an introduction on selected works, festivals, conferences new published works, Together with Islamic economic sites. Therefore based on opinion of experts in field of Islamic economics this quarterly has become a comprehensive encyclopedia and a reference periodical in the above mentioned domain which provides scientific papers on several subjects for interested scholars.
