The Martyrdom of General Qasem Soleimani; Opportunities and Challenges

According to the Department of Public Relations of the Research Institute for Islamic Culture and Thought, a scientific seat named “The Martyrdom of General Qasem Soleimani; Opportunities and Challenges” was held by the Center of Politics Studies in Wednesday, January 8th in the Research Institute.

In this scientific seat that a number of faculty members of the Institute did presented their lectures, Hojatul-Eslam Mohsen Mohajernia commented that: “we have four types of opportunities in the history of Islamic Republic. A first one was started with the aggressive strategy and made our enemies to step backward and defend. As an example, I can refer to the imposed war by Iraq. The war prepared great opportunities and capabilities for us.”

Dr. Mohajernia then added: “after war, we had the era of construction. In this period we sought political reform, moved toward to improve internal infrastructures, pursue a compromise strategy, and apply internal rationality.”

According to him: “In the third step, after the year 2005, most of the policies were provocative, and we were virtually unable to take advantage of the opportunities. Then the blockades and sanctions were so high that they seized opportunities.”

Dr. Mohajernia then referred to the fourth step and noted that: “in the modern period we are stepping forth toward a status in which, war determines strategies. Now our confrontation with the enemy has reached to a climax. In one hand, the enemy is attacking by all of its opportunities and in the other, we have a public request for defense and counterattack.”

He finally added: “although the martyrdom of General Qasem Soleimani is indeed a great loss, it prepared a great opportunity for us. Because it has made our nation more united and resulted in an inclusive request for counterattack. A counterattack that came true with the missile attack of the Revolutionary Guards to US military base.”
